Boi-bumba celebration
Here in the Brazilian Amazon, one can find the most extraordinary mixture of primitive and modern cultures, races and nationalities. Reflected in the brown, blue and green eyes of its natives is a unique crossing of Indian, Portuguese, German and Spanish, blended to create some of the most beautiful people on earth. Their grace is matched only by their smiles and friendly hospitality.
At Rio Negro Lodge our guests end their Amazon fishing adventure with the spectacle and rhythms of the Boi-bumbá celebration. Days of unbelievable fishing are crowned with an evening festival of dance, magic and passion that brings to life the folklore of the Brazilian Amazon Indians. It’s a fitting close to an experience each guest will remember, and some day, return to the Rio Negro to live again.

| The wide eyed exuberance and broad smiles of the children of the Amazon speak of a culture and unspoiled environment that is as fragile as it is wild… | The Rio Negro’s Indians subsist as they have for hundreds of years. Living in villages of 15 to 20 families the river sustains them with fish and the land with farinha. |
The Amazon is not only home to thousands of species of flora and fauna; it’s also the world’s leading source of tropical fish
such as neons, angelfish, oscars and aruana.
