Gene Day with the 20 pound Big Fish of the Week!
optimal levels. As always we start of this part of the season with our
families who come to take advantage of the holidays.
The big fish of the week goes to Gene Day who landed a 20-pound monster.
Gene came down with his wife Beverly who landed a 10-pounder, his daughter
Brena who came and enjoy what the Amazon has to offer with all its beauty,
and her son Jacob who landed a nice 16-pounder.
Our next couple was John and Karlean who came for some fishing and a
little more site seeing of Brazil making the Rio Negro one of their stop
in their journey. John landed a 14-pound peacock and not to mention the
two large Red Tail catfish which weighed in at an estimated 80-pounds.
This couple didn’t come just to fish for Peacock bass but also to try and
catch a wide variety of other species not to mention the wildlife.
Jim and Patricia who came down for the first time and were amazed at the
size and splendor of the Rio Negro and all it has to offer. Out of the
couples these came in with most numbers of peacock boated, Jim landed a
17-pounder and his wife Patricia landed a 12-pounder.
Our father and son team made up of Victor and Ian also fished hard. After
a few pointers on chopping a woodchopper they were on their way to catch
big fish. Victor landed a 17-pounder and his son Ian landed a 15-pounder
for the week.
Jacob and Ian took advantage of all there was to do. These two boys became
friends from the first day and exchanged stories about their days out
fishing. One night they went out with local guides to learn how the native
fish with a spot light in the left hand and a spear in the right hand.
They both took turns to spear a variety of fish and observed turtles
(irapucas), sting rays (araias), and even peacock sleeping at night among
many others. Not to mention the record for a non-native with a hand-line
catching large sardines of the docks one day, they landed enough to fill a
bucket.
From my staff and I we thank God for this wonderful trip, the families who
came and wish our guest a safe journey home full of memories of untold
adventure. We wish everyone a Happy New Year full of new adventures for
many years to come “Desejamos um Feliz Ano”.
Thank you for fishing with us, we will always be waiting for your return.
